浮世絵とは・・・ 江戸時代に盛行した庶民的な絵画です。
安価で良質な絵画を世間に広める為に、木版画を主としていましたが、同時に肉筆画を描く浮世絵師もいました。
浮世という言葉には、彼岸ならぬ現世、過去でも未来でもない現在、そして好色の気味の濃い俗世間というという意味が込められています。
浮世絵に使う主題は、当時流行の最先端の社会風俗が中心に描かれていました。
